We ensure that our testing procedures are in compliance with the latest regulations, and our team of experienced professionals is available to provide expert advice and assistance. PAT Testing

PAT Testing

The purpose of the PAT test is to identify any defects or faults in the equipment that could lead to an electrical hazard. This includes problems such as faulty wiring, damaged plugs or sockets, and insulation failure. By identifying these issues early, they can be addressed, and the equipment repaired or replaced before it causes harm to users.

PAT testing is particularly important in workplaces and public environments where there is a high volume of electrical equipment in use, as the risk of faults and defects is higher in these settings. Regular testing can help to ensure that the equipment remains safe to use and complies with relevant health and safety regulations.

Code of Practice 7 (CP7)

It is a legal requirement to ensure that gas equipment used in the workplace is in a safe condition, well maintained and inspected regularly where required. As an employer or person of responsibility, it is vital that you understand the obligations you have and how to comply with them.

“This Code of Practice gives a guide to the minimum safety standards required for the assembly, examination, inspection, maintenance and use of individual portable or mobile cylinder oxy-fuel gas equipment, each gas being supplied from a cylinder and individually controlled by a cylinder-mounted pressure regulator.”

“This Code of Practice has been prepared by the British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) to provide guidance on the safe use of oxy-fuel gas equipment”.

WB Alloys qualified inspectors will visit your premises and carry out rigorous checks on the condition of your gas equipment, including a visual and function check of your regulators, flashback arrestors, hoses and blowpipes, your working area, and your storage facilities. Our inspectors will advise on any remedial work required.

Abrasive Wheel Training

Abrasive Wheel Training

Abrasive wheels are used in many industry sectors and can be highly dangerous if used by untrained personnel. The Provision and use of work equipment regulations ( PUWER 98) requires anyone involved in this product- mounting, handling, storing, or using the product to be trained and certified. Further guidance can be found in the HSE 17 Safety in the use of Abrasive wheels.

The abrasive wheel course covers the following requirements and is undertaken by our BAF (British Abrasives Federation) accredited trainer:

  • Hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels.

  • Legislation on abrasive wheels

  • Types and design of wheels (including specification, to avoid incorrect selection)

  • Grinding wheel information and safety features

  • Inspection, testing and storage (including damaged/faulting wheel checks)

  • Mounting of wheels (including a practical ‘verification of capability’ test, ensuring safe mounting procedures are followed & tool care is adhered)

  • Ensuring a safe working environment

  • Relevant PPE

  • Safe use of abrasive wheels ( Including Kick-back)

  • Abrasive wheels knowledge test
